Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E1175: Glink UVTI, DUO7 client could block after MML tranfer

The DUO7 client UVTI program would occasionally block after an FTRAN
file transfer to a Diane system. This has only been observed at one
customer site using the DUO7 client UVTI program connecting to GCOS7
MML though a Bull TNVIP-SE V2 gateway. Testing on other sites could
not reproduce the error.

The problem was provoked by a long delay (0.5 seconds was observed)
between the last FTRAN 'ACK' packet, which signals the end of the
file transfer, and the TNVIP 0xFF 0xF9 'go-ahead' which in TNVIP
signals the turn to Glink.

Glink's UVTI signals the end of a file transfer to the UVTI
application on reception of the final FTRAN 'ACK' of the file
transfer (because the transfer is at that point ended), but the DUO7
client program then issues UVTI 'send data' calls to the host
without waiting for the turn. Depending on timing these 'send data'
calls were sometimes lost, because Glink did not have the turn if
the 0xFF 0xF9 from the TNVIP server was delayed.

The DU07 client does function correctly at the customer site using
other emulator/UVTI packages, so it has been made to work correctly
with Glink by changing Glink/UVTI to queue the 'send data' calls,
until Glink has received the turn.
